  i believe that jehovah's witnesses are mostly honest people.

  it's unfortunate for the honest ones -- especially embarrasing -- if they're ambushed by some person in their door to door work with evidence that their leadership throughout modern history has knowingly said things that are not true.

The following essay attempts to document one such trail of Watchtower dishonesty.

  Dear Mother,

  I don’t think you’ll mind being addressed as Mother since many like to look at the Governing Body of Jehovah’s Witnesses as their mother. I’ll get right to the point, Mother, because I took a fresh look at your character and now believe that you crossed the line between telling the truth and stretching it. How’s that?

  Oh, I know you’d always told me that you were imperfect and made mistakes -- and I accepted that. But the more I studied your writings the more I found that you went beyond the honest mistakes. You see, my real mom taught me something that I never really applied in my relationship with you -- until recently. I trust you’ll agree that what she said makes sense:

  "There are honest mistakes -- but never honest lies."

  Oh, you can’t believe the times I defended you over the silly things you said -- I mean the absurd teachings you wanted us to believe. There were the miracle wheat; pyramidology; that evil aluminum cookware; those teaching flip-flops on subjects like the resurrection of ancient Sodomites, the Superior Authorities, medicinal vaccinations, along with others too numerous to mention here.

  How can anyone who is truly spiritual-minded attend Bethel and not realize it's all a scam

  not that i was any better(lol - but as i sat back and thought about the time i spent there, and the things i saw i feel disgusted.. i could literally write a thousand stories about the discrimination, favortism and all out dishonest that took place but i doubt anyone would actually care.

  the one thing however that really sticks out in my mind is when i was in a nice room with my roommate that he kind of inherited after his previous roommate left.

  it actually had a bathroom and we both had space for real beds(not those dang trundle beds like we had in standish).. .

  Memorial Invites from Door to Door?

  is this the first year that the jws have been out aggressively handing out memorial invitations from door to door?

  i've been out for about 12 years now, but as i recall, congregations used to receive a relatively limited number of memorial invitations, and they were pretty much reserved for bible studies, good rvs, inactive persons, and others who had some sort of connection to the organization.

  they were not just randomly handed out from house to house - that was what the "special talk" invitations were for.. it occurs to me that this might be an attempt by the wts to pump up the memorial attendance so as to maintain the illusion of continued growth.

  Anyone noticed a curiosity on the Memorial Invitation for 2013 ?

  i can't scan the memorial invitation for 2013, but i was looking at it today and noticed something curious on the front drawing.. we have jesus as the central figure of the composition.

  to his right and bottom, a large crown, in colour, of shiny happy people of diverse origins.. separated from this by the figure of jesus, is another group, a much smaller one, on the left and as if ascending to the top, and grayed.. clearly portrayed in this group is the face of ct russell and apparently william tyndale.

  but then, also sarah and abraham and other personalities of the ot seem to be represented there.

  for a while i have been curious about the specific contents of the pages that the wt (bible students) were ordered to remove from the "finished mystery" by the u.s. government.. anyone knows where i can get those pages?.

  Finally, here. The pages that were removed under orders by the U.S. government.

  A few quotes from that forum post:

  "It might interest current and ex-Jehovah’s Witnesses to know that Rutherford ordered the Bible Students to rip out pages 247 through 253 in all copies of The Finished Mystery in his last ditch attempt to avoid jail time. Surprisingly, the Proclaimers book (p. 652) partially admits that this happened (that the pages were removed), but does not explain that it this was done so that Rutherford could avoid jail time. ...

  Below are my notes about those pages. I’ll let you decide whether the charges of "sedition" were false -- or not. . .

  "People who display patriotism are delusional murderers acting in the very spirit of the devil. Patriotism is narrow-minded hatred of other people." etc., etc.

  This forum discussion is from 11 years ago and has, I think, what you'd like to see. There, Blondie in her 38th (of some 40,000) post gives some excellent comparisons. There are others who chip in as well.
